A proposition being worked through on a whiteboard

The best money this client never spent

An entrepreneur with a corporate leadership background · Business methodology & consulting

An entrepreneur wanted to codify hard-won corporate know-how into a digital methodology product. We developed the proposition, built a proof of concept and tested it with a multinational. The evidence said stop, before serious money was committed. That is validation doing its job.

The situation

The idea was a strong one: use digital thinking to bring real rigour to how businesses define their proposition, their offers and their go-to-market, by codifying know-how from large corporates into a structured methodology the wider market could use.

The question was the same one every new product faces: would the value support the cost of building it? The honest way to answer that is to develop the proposition properly, put a working version in front of a real prospect, and let the evidence decide.

What we did

01

Develop the proposition

Roughly half the engagement went into the core proposition itself: who it serves, what it replaces, and how it would make money.

02

Build a proof of concept

The other half built the methodology into a working proof of concept, so the idea could be judged as a product rather than a pitch.

03

Test it with a real prospect

The proof of concept was worked through with a multinational potential client, testing the proposition where it counts.

Outcomes

The results

  • A clear go/no-go decision grounded in evidence, not opinion
  • The development cost, required investment and risk quantified before commitment
  • The stop decision made cheaply, before serious money was spent
  • The know-how and proposition work retained for future use
